Traditional record labels feel weird sometimes. The idea of giving up music rights and ending up indebted to a label after working so hard just to get there never felt appealing to us. That’s why we decided to take a do-it-yourself approach by releasing our own music. This is the music we actually want to make, not just what we think people might want to hear.

Since 2023, magmacrunch media has operated as a DIY music collective and independent record label with an associated music publishing entity called magmacrunch music, established in October 2025. Based in the United States, we have been making music in some form or another since the mid-00s. In addition to releasing a variety of genres ranging from post-rock to indie folk to riot grrrl, we also film and produce no-budget music videos, many of which draw inspiration from avant-garde short films. We are primarily digital, but hold a special appreciation for physical or otherwise obscure media formats. In July 2025, we officially started our floppy series, and tape production is in the works. 

Additionally, the magmacrunch arcade was established in December 2025 and is currently in development.
